Enhancing our Image was the second art sourcing exhibition for Kambani Arts. It was sponsored by DFID and Alliance Fraincaise and took place in May 2005 at the Alliance Francaise cultural centre in Enugu, Nigeria.
79 artists took part. It was not possible to include all their submitted works in the exhibition so a selection process narrowed the numbers to approx 100.
World renowned artist El Anatsui was a major inspiration to young artists taking part, he offered words of wisdom “One embarking on a journey thinks about the destination and how to get there – Art is an intermediate destination with as many locations as there are travelers”.
Gerard Chouin, Centre Directeur echoed El’s thoughts, commending the relentless energy young artists expressed with the exhibition.
