Regen Africa

Regen Africa took place in October 2005 at the acclaimed Barbican Arts Centre in the City of London. It was a three day exhibition and conference event focused on African regeneration and trade. The emphasis was to encourage international business to expand into Africa and tap into the huge potential of resources available.
Kambani Arts was invited to showcase contemporary African art to the predominantly business minded audience. It was important to raise the profile of African art at a time when there were far too few outlets available. It can be argued that it was from small artistic footsteps like this, taken during the Art Councils Africa 05 season that championed change in the attitude and fortunes of the African art market.
The exhibition proved an effective pathway to Kambani’s mission. It was here that the idea to engage children was nurtured due to the high level of interest expressed by young people.
