Trumpet Media’s Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) awards take place every year in London. It’s a prestigious event, recognising and rewarding inspiring voices from Africa. It blows the Trumpet for Africans who have made, and continue to make contributions in areas of human endeavour. But quite uniquely, it also highlights the difficulties and problems of the African community around the world.
Kambani Arts was invited to exhibit at the 2005 awards at the Holiday Inn, Kensington. It turned out to be an inspiring event. One key highlight – meeting Ade Adepitan. Kambani is keen to support disability in the arts and Ade was truly inspiring. A simple, easy going guy who is not negated by disability but uses it to empower people – truly awesome.
