Cultural Diversity was an exhibition of contemporary African art and children’s creative writing that was held at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham from June to July 2019.
The exhibition engaged KS2 children from three school in Tottenham; Chestnut Primary, Crowland Primary and Sunrise Primary schools. The challenge was for children to interpret the artwork in their own way and use their interpretations to explore cultural diversity.
Children took part in art and role play workshops, choosing an art piece that inspired their written expressions of diversity. Each child also shared a short diversity ‘leaf’ on the ‘Diversity Tree’ – a collection of participating children’s short sketches on diversity
