Daniel Adaka grew up in a close-knit family. He discovered his gifts for the arts at a young age and thankfully, always had the encouragement he needed from his family. He eventually went on to pursue his love for art in the University of Benin where he graduated with a B.A.
Adaka has a hunger to paint and remains undaunted despite a lack of availability of materials, the poor show of appreciation for art in Africa and low prices.
He has admired and has been inspired by just a few artists. He considers Raphael to be the greatest Renaissance painter ever, but closer to home he has received great inspiration from his former lecturer and fellow artist, EL-Dragg Okwoju.
Adaka's concepts come basically from within. His works dwell on the border of fantasy infused with African culture and energy. He only lets his emotions interplay with his works once in a while and political statements in his paintings are not really his thing. One thing about him is that he tends to satisfy himself in his works without consideration for whether it invokes negative or positive reactions from admirers. To him that is the primary aim of any art piece…invoking emotions from observers. |
