Chukwuemeka Chukwu started his art journey young, during his secondary school days. Currently a third year student of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Chukwuemeka is majoring in painting.
He thanks his parents for their relentless effort in giving him sound educational encouragement and their persistent prayers which is the key to him being what he is today. He is thankful for the talent God has given him.
He has attended a number of notable exhibitions in Nigeria and won the 1st prize award for Kambani’s “Images of Africa” exhibition in May 2004. From the standard of his work, its easy to see why. He tries to achieve a unique aesthetic language with his work and because of his love for mankind, and empathy for the blind, he endeavours to give them a sense of belonging in his paintings.
He greatly appreciates the guidance provided by his tutors, notably Krydz Ikwuemesi and Chukwuemeka Okpara. He has also been inspired by good contemporary artists such as Tejuoso Olarenwaju, Gerald Chukwuma, Moses Ibanga and Obeago Aneke to name a few.
Chukwuemeka is a dedicated studio artist and aspires to make an impact in society through his work. His ultimate vision is pure and simple; for God to provide him with a good, happy life and nice family, comfortable through the promulgation of his artistic talent. |
